Federal Brass-Mounted Inlaid Mahogany Tall-Case Clock
The dial signed by Aaron Willard (1757-1844), Boston, 1800-1820.
The signature refreshed.
Provenance: Midwestern Virtue: Property from the Collection of Sam and Patty McCullough

    Dimensions:
  • 102 x 18 3/4 x 9 1/2 in. (259.1 x 47.6 x 24.1 cm.)
  • Condition:
  • Dust boards on bonnet replaced. Fretwork replaced. Signature and location on dial repainted. Repair to hour hand. Craquelure, minor flaking and touch ups to painted dial. General bruising, wear, abrasions and shrinkage cracks scattered throughout consistent with age and use. Minor patches to inlay and veneer a few brass stop flutings are loose. Waist door moldings possibly restored. Small shim strip added to inside of waist case to account for shrinkage. Bruising and abrasions to base molding and feet. Cracks, repairs and possible restoration to feet. Otherwise good condition. Has a nice, tall presence.
