An oil painting of a young woman with black hair and brown eyes, dressed in a black dress with a white lace collar and a red and white striped neckerchief. She sits at a London pianoforte, turned ¾ towards the viewer with her left hands on the keys. The little finger on her left hand is not represented. A book of music is on the pianoforte. The canvas is mounted on a dark gray cloth over a modern stretcher and minimally framed.

Attributed to George Gasner (~1809-1861) a portrait and miniature painter. He was born in New York ~1809 according to his Census Record in 1850. He married Emiline Gasner and they had 3 children: Esther, George, & James. He was living in Chicopee Falls, MA in 1850 and living alone in the 1860 Census. He died there in 1861.
